Hina Matsuri

On March 3rd, Hinamatsuri is celebrated in Japan.

In the Heian Period over 1,000 years ago, people used to float dolls down the river.
They believed the dolls would carry away their bad luck.
This was the beginning of Hina Matsuri.

Families with girls display a set of hina dolls at home and make offerings of white sake and Hina-arare.
As soon as Hinamatsuri finishes, parents must put hina dolls away. Otherwise their daughter would be past marriageable age.
When I was a child, I used to display my hina dolls until April.
so I got marriage at 30;-))
